Literature Text

Every day, we all hope and we all pray
That we'll find what we’re looking for, one day.
A life spent searching for what we need,
What our purpose is. Starving children to feed,
People to help and save; a path right and true –
But who is there to help me and to save you?

There is no "one truth" for us to find,
No apparent social codes that hold and bind.
We make our own rules; break them as we please.
Do what we like; dislike what we do. Just after a release.
Led to believe half-truths told by fools.
All wasting our precious time. Merely others' tools.

There is no great fight for us to fight.
If there were, would we? We’d just say, "we might."
No cause to battle for. Just struggling through.
Hoping someone else will do the best that we can do.
It all drifts by without any meaning.
To ourselves we are nothing but demeaning.

The future has been placed in our hands.
What to do with it? We all have our demands.
But in the end, we'll just go nowhere.
Treading water, staying still, staying there.
The thoughts of the past uselessly exhumed.
Nothing new. With us at the helm, we're all doomed.
This is one of those poems where I thought of a cool title, then wrote a poem to match. It was written back at the start of July, not that that's of any real consequence :p

You've turned alot of my own personal thoughts into a beautifully sad prose. I write poetry, but may just give it up after reading this!
