So it's been a while since I've done much on dA. I've even missed when I wanted to post Bob IV, which is a shame because it was the 5th anniversary. Or is the 5th anniversary... it might still be coming up... Dammit, I should know these things!

Anyway, what have I been up to?

100 Films in a Year
Blog #1 -- not because it's my first blog (ohhh no, far from it), but because it's probably my most worthwhile. You can check it out here. It's doing fairly well at its new home -- at one point it even made the site's top ten, and if I'm lucky will get back up there -- even if my aim is far from being achieved.

My Cultural Experience
Blog #2 -- which is also going well. You may remember I mentioned it way back in June, saying it would have at least one new post every day. Well, it has, so ner! It's still going relatively well I think, and I'm not getting bored of it, so that's super. Check it out here.

It must be said, this is the least serious of all my ideas and time fillers -- in fact, I'm often more focussed on a script I'm trying to finish and soon my postgrad degree (at least, I ought to focus on that) -- but I'm still having ideas and jotting them down and developing them, so it is more than just a natty logo. I've gone and gotten a site -- well, blog (of course!) -- for it here, which is... very black. Oh well. Still, it might see more development in the future.

Other stuff
There's nothing else I can link to, so I won't bother mentioning it -- as I said, writing, and about to be starting my course this week. I really ought to look into what books I need for that actually...

Look, I started another blog! Hurrah!

No, you see, this one has more sticking power than all the others (except perhaps 100 Films, which is on its best incarnation yet, into its 18th month of life, and has more readers than ever (thanks to Indiana Jones reviews (yes, two))). The reason for this new blog's expected longevity is... it's simpler. No attempt to review anything and everything I watch, or write a story every day, or try to make my life interesting. No, none of that jazz. Instead, it's more a catalogue of things I see/read/listen to/etc -- literally, the my cultural experience of the title. Of course, for the sake of interest, this is full of handy links (to series, episodes, books, authors, etc) and also reviews, when I want to write them.

It's updated literally every day, because every day I at least watch/read/listen to something -- every day there will be something new, even if it's just a brief list. And the reviews vary depending how much I want to say, with none of the strictures I've imposed elsewhere -- anything from a proper decent length to barely a paragraph of my thoughts, or even just a bit of trivia! And there's something for everyone, I swear.

So go on, check it out. Feel free to comment & that jazz too. I love readers. Also, don't forget the thriving 100 Films.

Thanks :)

Regular readers (are there any?) may remember that last year I set about watching 100 films I'd never seen before in one year. Cunningly, I named this 100 Films in a Year. You can take a look back at what I saw here.

As you also may or may not remember, I've been doing the same thing this year. Only I didn't want to flood my dA journal with it all over again, so instead you can now find it at its very own home: filmjournal.net/100films. Go on, take a look. You know you want to. It now even has pretty star graphics on each review. They're somewhat shiny. And, on a mildly more intellectual level, if you thought my five-line (ish) reviews were a tad light, there's now a good couple of paragraphs on each new film I see.

All readers very welcome, and comments highly appreciated. And if you sign up for a FilmJournal account you can even rate my journal (I would appreciate if you gave it a high rating, of course, but obviously you're free to do as you see fit).

If you're not interested in reading about any old rubbish I might review, here's a list (all handily linked) of the films I've seen so far this year:

Atonement
Beowulf: Director's Cut
Best in Show
Calendar Girls
Churchill: The Hollywood Years
Dark City
Done the Impossible: The Fans' Tale of Firefly and Serenity
Double Indemnity
Easy Riders, Raging Bulls
Great Expectations (1998)
The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939)
Jane Eyre (1944)
The Mirror Crack'd (1980)
Ocean's Thirteen
Ratatouille
Rebecca
A Room With a View
The Simpsons Movie
Starwoids
Troy: Director's Cut
